WURKestra – MAMA Instrument Drive in Partnership with HEID Music
Celebrate 10 years of Wurk with their most ambitious capstone project yet: WURKestra! Debuting live at the historic Barrymore Theatre, this powerhouse event pairs Madison’s own 6-piece funk-fusion band with the 17-piece DB Orchestra for an unforgettable night of music benefiting the Madison Area Music Association (MAMA).

About the Show & WURKestra Project
Concertgoers can expect over two hours of bold, brassy interpretations of Wurk originals, innovative reimaginings of popular covers, and brand-new pieces created specifically for the WURKestra. The project combines Wurk with the DB Orchestra’s massive 17-piece big band setup—loaded with trumpets, trombones, saxophones, percussion, and sousaphone.
Conceived by saxophonist Daniel Haschke (a member of both groups):
“I’ve always been inspired by unique musical collaborations, especially when popular artists work with big orchestras. I realized that all of the pieces were in place for me and my bandmates to craft a truly one-of-a-kind experience.”
About the Artists
Wurk: Formed in Madison in 2016 and voted the 2019 and 2022 MAMA Artist of the Year, Wurk is a 6-piece funk-fusion group inspired by Umphrey’s McGee, Snarky Puppy, Lettuce, and Phish. They seamlessly blend funk grooves with progressive rock, pop, and jam rock.
The DB Orchestra: Led by Andy Kerber, this ensemble has spent over a decade blending jazz swing, doo-wop, Dixieland, and rock ‘n’ roll. With nearly 20 musicians, their hot horns and driving drums deliver the intensity of a marching band mixed with the flair of classic jazz ensembles.
